Abstract

IDHS results 2012 showed that TFR East Java on trend remains that the figure of 2.6 per woman until 2012. It potentially will cause an increase in the number of births. FP services are free priority given to poor people. FP acceptors must pay from their own money to get contraception. After the 2007 economic crisis, people have difficulty in meet needs especially in urban areas. The necessities of life in urban areas is higher than in rural areas. Gresik District had new FP acceptors are still lower than in other districts. The purpose of this study was to analyze the couples of reproductive age in self independence of FP. This study was observational with cross sectional design. The population was couples of reproductive age in all kelurahans in Gresik District. The sample was 39 couples is determined by Multi Stage Random Sampling. These results indicate that the educational level of the majority of the husband and wife graduated from high school. A total of 46.2% wife and 92.3% husband are working. The majority of wife and husband working as an employee in the industrial sector. The majority of couples want two children alone and had had enough (46.2%). Wife as much as 47.62% using a syringe with a compatibility reasons. While her husband as much as 5.1% using condoms. FP independently as much as 7.7%. FP services are obtained not by spending the majority of his own but was obtained from facilities in the workplace. The majority of family expenditures to meet the daily needs of the family. These conditions can have an impact on their drop out or move of an effective birth control to be ineffective. Therefore, efforts should be made to raise public awareness about family planning and access to contraceptive family planning services.
