Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is one of the most common causes of chronic injury. Good care is needed to prevent chronic wounds from getting worse, one of them by monitoring the condition of temperature and humidity in the wound area. The purpose of this study is to design a sensor system that can monitor the development of chronic wounds in the process of chronic wound care in diabetics who have diabetic foot. Methods implemented in this study include the design of sensor hardware, making Android software, performance testing tools, and testing tools in patients with diabetic foot. The main sensor in this research is DHT-11 sensor which can measure temperature and humidity, using Arduino Uno as microcontroller device and Bluetooth HC-05 as transmission component. The working principle of the sensor system is to measure the humidity and temperature in the chronic wound area and transmit the results in an Android-based phone application, and when the temperature reaches a certain limit value at each grade of chronic wounds, the tool Will send a warning to the application so that further wound treatment can be performed. The warning will light up at 68% RH for grade 1 injuries, 80% RH for grade 3 injuries, 85% for grade 4 chronic wounds, and 87% for chronic wounds entering grade 5 Wireless sensor system for Monitoring the development of chronic wounds can be used as a tool in the treatment of chronic wounds caused by diabetes.
