We are pleased to report the articles presented at the 5th International Conference on Statistics, Mathematics, Teaching, and Research 2023 (5th ICSMTR). The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences organized the conference hybrid in two days, from 9 to 10 October 2023. The conference theme for ICSMTR 2023 is “Advancing Research and Teaching in Mathematics and Statistics for Transformation towards a Civilized Society 5.0”. This reflects the fact that a civilized society of 5.0 will foster collaboration and innovation. In particular, technological advancement has always played a crucial role in developing societies as it fosters innovation, knowledge dissemination, and the development of critical skills that can contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This includes the development of research and teaching in Mathematics and Statistics to drive economic growth and societal progress.

In this conference, we have six prominent keynote speakers from six different countries:

1. Distinguished Professor Kerrie Mengersen (Queensland University of Technology, Australia)
2. Prof. Wen-Haw Chen (Tunghai University, Taiwan)
3. Prof. Drs. Muh. Arif Tiro, M.Pd., M.Sc., Ph.D. (Universitas Negeri Makassar, Indonesia)
4. Prof. Idir Ouassou (Cadi Ayyad University, Morocco)
5. Associate Professor Yogi Ahmad Erlangga (Zayed University, UnitedArab Emirates)
6. Prof. Dr. Zaleha Bt. Ismail (Universiti of Technology Malaysia, Malaysia)

The impact of our conference is also ensured through the spread of our authors. We received 75 papers with 150 participants who come from more than 20 universities (institutions) in Indonesia and other countries. The number of articles sent for peer-review is 60. Moreover, peer-review selected 23 papers. Furthermore, we strive for impact by collaborating with many quality national journals indexed by Sinta 2. We also expect to provide numerous opportunities for informal networking during the conference.

The conference’s success was attributed to the organizing committee members, who have been doing very good work and are determined to accomplish this conference. All of them have been working since the beginning of the planning stage, and they are still working until the article’s publication, even though they are very busy with their responsibilities. We would like to give special thanks to the authors, speakers, participants, and organizing committee.
