Abstract

Financial literacy acts as an important skill that significantly influences economic well-being and stability. Currently, it is a major challenge faced by all countries globally. Financial literacy is the mix of one’s acquaintance, skill, and attitude towards financial matters. It helps to make informed decisions for the well-being of an individual. In this era, many young adults in India face challenges in terms of insufficient financial education, cultural behaviors, and high impulsive spending behaviors. Through this research paper and a mixed-methods approach combining qualitative interviews and quantitative surveys, this study explores the fundamental causes of financial illiteracy and its resulting complications. The research aims to indicate that addressing this educational inadequacy and incorporating financial education at a very early stage may alleviate all these challenges and strengthen accountability in financial practices.
