Abstract

Sequential pattern is an important research topic in data mining and knowledge discovery. During the discovery of sequential patterns, only the frequent sequences are considered while all the infrequent sequences are ignored. However, some infrequent patterns can provide very useful insight view into the data set and a new kind of knowledge discovery problems called as rare sequential pattern and its discovery algorithm are proposed in this paper. Experiments on the synthetic data set show that the proposed algorithm is efficient and scalable.
