- Abstract
The digital transformation of public services has become a crucial pathway for enhancing government governance capabilities and optimizing citizen service experiences, yet it has also raised concerns among citizens regarding personal data privacy. To further explore the tension between public service digitization and citizens’ apprehensions about its potential risks, a questionnaire survey was conducted among 500 Chinese citizens in a digital public service environment. This revealed their overall attitudes and specific concerns, with regression models analyzing the relationship between these factors. The innovation lies in understanding citizens’ genuine attitudes toward public service digitization through a large-scale sample, with the regression analysis model validating the rationality of subsequent conclusions. The final research conclusion is that there is a significant correlation between the actual application level of public service digitization and citizens’ attitudes toward it and their concerns about its potential risks. Governments still need to effectively integrate internal management and external oversight of public service digitization.
