Abstract

We present a new method for attribute selection for models with attribute values expressed via Atanassov's intuitionistic fuzzy sets (IFSs, for short). The three term representation of the IFSs makes it possible to construct a transparent and justified function that enables to select attributes for broadly understood decision making, e.g., for classification. We demonstrate the proposed method using a well known, simple and illustrative example from the literature, and then we show the results for the SPECT Heart data, a real medical preprocessed data. The data set is quite complicated and difficult to analyze. The results obtained are compared with other methods, and found to be promising.
