- Abstract
QVault offers a creative approach to protection in data exchange leveraged through QR codes with obscured information hidden with pseudo-visual QR code wrappers. In contrast with open QR codes, which can be intercepted and modified, QVault uses AES algorithm along with multi-party authentication. Frequently, encrypted data is added to an inconspicuous message in the form of a QR code so that an unauthorized person will not suspect the presence of sensitive data. The system also uses multi-party authentication in which more than a single key is used to decode the message embedded in the other one so that no one party has the authority to open them and access sensitive information. In the current framework of QR codes, the data encoded in is easily retrievable; thus, the data is vulnerable to eavesdropping. It is possible to encrypt some data into QR codes but such codes usually cause some attention. To overcome these deficiencies, QVault utilizes the AES encryption method, encodes plaintext into a Baseline Binary Code, and reconstructs the symbol back into a QR code form that is harmless to the naked eye. This paper discusses the architectural design, the approach used for designing QVault, and the performance analysis of QVault while focusing its applicability in secure environments. Comparisons are made with conventional QR code security and performance benchmarks are presented. The outcome showed the effectiveness of QVault and the ability to improve safe communication, so it can be used in financial, healthcare, and government sectors.
