Abstract

The success of any organization relies significantly on its human resources, which possess the skills, knowledge, and competencies necessary for implementing organizational policies and strategies. Human resource management (HRM) practices play a pivotal role in optimizing these resources, ultimately contributing to sustainable competitive advantages and enhanced firm performance. This paper explores the impact of various HRM practices on employee performance across different sectors through an extensive literature review of studies conducted from 2009 to 2022. The research methodology employed in this paper involves the analysis of secondary data from previous studies and a comprehensive survey of research papers on HRM practices and employee performance. The findings of this study, drawn from an extensive literature survey, affirm that HRM practices encompassing recruitment and selection, training and development, and compensation, significantly influence employee performance. While numerous HRM studies have reported positive impacts on employee performance, some have noted negative effects, prompting further investigation.

This research underscores the pivotal role of three key HRM practices as determinants of employee performance. However, it is acknowledged that these findings could be further substantiated through empirical data collection and analysis. This paper contributes to the ongoing discourse on the significance of HRM practices in enhancing employee performance, offering insights into the nuanced relationship between HR practices and employee productivity.
