- Abstract
This study empirically investigates the impact of fintech on green production efficiency in industrial enterprises using 19,860 annual observations from Shanghai and Shenzhen A-share listed companies (2011-2023). By constructing an urban-level fintech development index and integrating corporate green patent data, financing constraints, and digital transformation levels, we examine how fintech drives green technological innovation. The findings demonstrate that fintech significantly boosts green patent applications, thereby enhancing green production efficiency through two primary pathways: alleviating financing constraints and facilitating digital transformation. Notably, high-tech firms, private enterprises, and those in eastern China show heightened sensitivity to fintech, achieving substantially greater benefits than other groups. Robustness tests and endogeneity controls confirm the reliability of the conclusions. The research reveals that fintech not only optimizes industrial financing environments but also accelerates digital transformation, providing new momentum for green innovation. These insights hold significant implications for achieving China’s “dual carbon” goals and promoting high-quality industrial development.
