Abstract

This research seeks to examine the influence of domestic investment, education, health, unemployment, and inflation on the distribution of population income in Indonesia. Utilizing panel data collected from 2016 to 2022 across 34 provinces in the country, the study employs panel data regression analysis alongside t-statistical tests for hypothesis evaluation. The findings reveal that both education and health exert a significant impact on income distribution. Meanwhile, investment, unemployment and inflation have an influence but are not significant. The policy recommendations in this study are for the government to increase the number and quality of health facilities as well as improve sanitation infrastructure and access to clean water, increase access to quality education and training programs that are relevant to labor market needs and invest in infrastructure development in disadvantaged areas to reduce disparities between regions and can adopt fiscal policies aimed at reducing income inequality, such as the imposition of progressive taxes on high-income earners and use the revenue to support social programs that equalize opportunities.
