Abstract

In the recent times, the development of technology in various industries has been taken place. Even, one the goals of sustainable development also mentions technological developments. Information Technology (IT) in a very short time become a very important part of our daily lives. Converting conventional society to modern society, IT played a vital role. The extensive use of IT has also shifted the focus of educators and changed the learning environment in the institutions. IT development in education encourages a massive leap that has reshaped the education around the world. Taking this into consideration, the goal of this conceptual paper is to examine the role of IT in education in enhancing classroom engagement and leads to mindful learning. However, the impact of IT on cognitive growth and educational growth of a learner has also been studied. Furthermore, the cognitive load theory has also considered to demonstrates that how digital tools reduced the mental stress of a student. The conceptual study also establishes a framework representing the relation between IT integration, classroom engagement, mindful learning and cognitive and academic growth. The key benefits and challenges faced in education setting has also been discussed. Finally, the chapter addresses the future of IT in education, followed by discussion and conclusion which states some valuable insights for policymakers, educators, and technology specialists about how the accessibility can be improved in the future, what actions must be taken to make wide range of digital tools in our country. Lastly, the paper provides empirical perspective as well for the future research to academicians and researchers.
