- Abstract
This paper examines the multifaceted role of stainless steel in modern airport architecture, highlighting its superior corrosion resistance, high strength-to-weight ratio, and aesthetic versatility. Through a review of material properties and case studies, particularly in challenging coastal environments, the study demonstrates stainless steel’s contributions to durable, low-maintenance airport structures. Emphasis is placed on stainless steel grades selected for structural and architectural elements, showing how their use improves sustainability and extends lifecycle performance. Results underscore stainless steel’s value as a foundational material for future-proof airport infrastructure, offering significant operational and environmental benefits across diverse contexts.
