Abstract

Benzofuran derivatives are one of the main groups of biologically relevant heterocycles found in nature. Several benzofurans possess a broad spectrum of therapeutic properties, which implies that this class of chemicals is unambiguously fascinating. Owing to their potent biological attributes along with their applications as pharmacological agents, benzofuran and its analogues have attracted medicinal chemists and pharmacologists. Owing to the extensive array of biological features of benzofurans, medicinal chemists have become intrigued in their structure-activity interactions. Consequently, target molecules in several illness circumstances have been identified. Its significance for medicinal chemistry research is demonstrated by the remarkable production of benzofuran derivatives to treat a broad range of ailments in a relatively short span of time. The current review describes the various synthetic strategies and the pharmacological potential possessed by the Benzofuran nucleus.
