Abstract

Gold nanoparticles (AuNP) capped by L-arginine have been synthesized. In this research, gold nanoparticles were synthesized by reducing the solution of Au(III) to Au(0) using trisodium citrate and capping agent L-arginine as a stabilizer. The ratio of Au(III) ions to amino acids is optimized to obtain monodispersed gold nanoparticles. The effect of pH (5 and 10) and L-arginine concentration (1, 2, and 5 mM) was studied on changes in the surface plasmon resonance spectra. The formation of gold nanoparticles was shown by the appearance of a ruby red solution, which was caused by surface plasmon resonance gold nanoparticles. Gold nanoparticles are stored at room temperature and their surface plasmon resonance spectra changes are measured by UV-vis spectrophotometer. Surface plasmon resonance spectra of AuNP pH 10 after reaching 6 weeks looks sharper and brighter red than AuNP pH 5
