The COVID-19 pandemic that has been going on since March 2020 has caused high morbidity and mortality rates throughout the world, including Indonesia. The impact of this pandemic affects various sectors from health to socioeconomic. The COVID-19 pandemic has made scientists and clinicians around the world focus on handling COVID-19, particularly related to the development of vaccines and COVID-19 therapies.

On the other hand, emergency cases and various other diseases in daily practice continue to go hand in hand with the COVID-19 pandemic. Emergency cases require fast response and clinical ability to make a right decision and take a proper medical action. Based on empirical experience, most of the critically ill patients experience functional or anatomical disorders of more than one organ system, where initial management must be carried out by a doctor who has emergency competence so that they can carry out resuscitation procedures to an advanced level. In addition, various other diseases including dengue hemorrhagic fever, typhoid fever, tuberculosis, injuries due to physical trauma, hypertension, and diabetes mellitus still have high incidence rates in Indonesia and often found in our daily practice. For this reason, we as a doctor must be able in carrying out the initial actions properly.

Medical Faculty, Universitas Jenderal Achmad Yani, facilitates the discussion and exchange of medical knowledge through the Annual Scientific Week (PIT) meeting which are held regularly every year. PIT FK UNJANI is a scientific meeting held in commemoration of FK UNJANI 30th anniversary. This year we bring “Update in Emergency and Daily Medicine During and After Pandemic Era” as the topic. Hopefully, this scientific meeting is impactful to increase the confidence level of the participants in providing better health services ahead.
