Website: http://bdeim.org The 2022 3rd International Conference on Big Data Economy and Information Management (BDEIM 2022), co-hosted by Henan University and Henan Academy of Sciences, was successfully held in Zhengzhou, China, from December 2 to 3, 2022 (virtual conference). The conference is a leading academic meeting and has the potential to bring new horizons and insights to the researchers and practitioners in the fields of big data economy and information management. BDEIM 2022 created an academic platform for academic communication and scientific innovation, brought together experts, scholars, and scientists in the fields of big data economy and information management from all over the world to present their research results and to exchange information, promoted the industrial cooperation of academic achievements, and facilitated the collaboration in the future among all the participants. The scope of the conference covered all areas of research in big data economy and information management, including big data mining, economic statistics under big data, sensor network and Internet of things, computer science and Internet, network and information security, database technology, etc. The conference brought together about 100 participants, primarily from China, but also from USA, France, Portugal, and other countries. A three-day program of the conference was divided into three sessions, including keynote speeches, oral presentations, and poster presentations. Each keynote speaker was given 30–40 min for keynote speeches, and every presenter was given 10–15 min. Among them, Prof. Wenbing Zhao from Cleveland State University, USA, performed a keynote speech on the title Blockchain: Fundamentals and Its Economic Functions. He first provided a brief introduction of the blockchain technology, highlighting its design principles, nuts and bolts, and the most fundamental innovations of the technology. Then, he discussed the economic functions of the blockchain technology. Finally, he cautioned on the adoption of permission-based blockchains and the central bank digital currencies and explained why such proposals are fundamentally against the decentralization and trustlessness design principles of the blockchain technology. The insightful speeches of each keynote speakers triggered heated and interesting discussions and a good number of informal talks between all the participants. We would like to thank all the participants in the 2022 3rd International Conference on Big Data Economy and Information Management. We would also like to thank the conference general chairs and all the committee members, for the work and preparation they put in to organize this event.
