Abstract

The expansion of international trade has driven the development of container transportation, and the scheduling of vessels in feeder services within an axial hub-and-spoke network is crucial for the efficiency of shipping companies. This paper constructs a mixed-integer programming model with the maximum sailing time of vessels as a constraint and aims to minimize the total sailing cost. A multi-strategy Exponential Triangle Optimization Algorithm (ETOA-M) is designed to solve this model. Through fixed and random scenario experiments, ETOA-M is compared with Simulated Annealing (SA), Random Search (RS), and ETOA. The results indicate that ETOA-M outperforms the others in terms of convergence speed and cost optimization, particularly showing significant advantages in the 12-48 hours sailing time range, while also validating the necessity of the constraint. This research provides decision support for shipping companies to reduce operational costs and improve scheduling efficiency.
