Abstract

The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and immersive technologies, such as Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR), is profoundly transforming the educational experience. This article explores the synergy between these technologies and their impact on learning. AI enhances immersive environments by making them more adaptive and interactive, offering personalised experiences for learners, while AR and VR facilitate experiential learning by simulating realistic contexts. This combination enhances learner engagement, improves accessibility for students with disabilities, and fosters the development of transversal skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving and collaboration. Despite these benefits, challenges such as high implementation costs, teacher training requirements, and data privacy and security concerns must be addressed to ensure effective adoption. This article examines the transformative potential of AI and immersive technologies in education, discusses key challenges, and provides strategic recommendations for their ethical and sustainable integration. By leveraging these innovations responsibly, educational institutions can foster more inclusive, engaging, and effective learning environments.
