Abstract

Taking Shanyang County in the south of Qinling Mountains in Shaanxi Province as an example, this paper elaborates the evolution mechanism of the urban system spatial structure in the county. It is found that it has experienced three main development stages: dual core structure, single center structure and point-axis spatial structure. Furthermore, the dominant factors of this evolution are analyzed, including traffic conditions, government policies, and resource and environmental carrying capacity. Finally, the future spatial development trend of Shanyang County is predicted to be a new dual-core structure, and corresponding policy recommendations are proposed.
