The 2022 International Conference on Economics, Smart Finance and Contemporary Trade (ESFCT 2022) was successfully held on July 22–24, 2022, in Xi’an, China. This conference aimed to boost the development of the Greater Bay Area, expand channels of international academic exchange in science and technology, and promote scientific innovation on the global scale. It also aimed to encourage information exchange in different areas, connect the most advanced academic resources globally, and turn research results into industrial solutions.

In the conference, we had the honor of inviting Prof. FAUZIAH MD. TAIB from Universiti Sains Malaysia, Malaysia, to serve as our Conference General Chair. The conference included keynote speeches and oral presentations, attracting more than 150 individuals and institutions all over the world. Primarily, keynote speakers were each allocated 30–45 min to hold their speeches. Then in the oral presentations, the excellent papers we had selected were presented by their authors by turns.

We were delighted and honored to invite three prominent professors as keynote speakers to deliver their speeches. For a start, Assoc. Prof. Juann Hung from Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, China, showed us her research Policy and Institutional Factors Behind the Extraordinarily High Housing Unaffordability in Urban China, in which the major factors like China’s fiscal federalism, local governments’ control of land ownership, and the system of promoting governmental officials based on the GDP growth rate in their jurisdictions were analyzed. Besides, A. Prof. Md Rabiul Islam from Universiti Utara Malaysia, Malaysia, made a report on Challenges Faced by Econometricians and Business Analytics and Their Overcomes. Using a questionnaire to gauge students’ attitudes toward econometrics or business analytics and their use of their abilities to attain their goals, this study examined how lecturers can determine if this result has been achieved in their courses. Lastly, A. Prof. Sikandar Ali Qalati from Jiangsu University, China, addressed the speech on the social media usage by small and medium-sized enterprises. He introduced that the social media usage by SMEs, enabling SMEs to maintain their competitive position by strengthening customer relationships, is crucial in the entrepreneurship and business literature, both in developed and developing countries. The wonderful speeches of each keynote speaker had triggered heated discussion. Besides, every participant praised this conference for disseminating useful and insightful knowledge.
