Abstract

Current research on international intellectual property law suffers from several shortcomings: a lack of overall understanding and a clear development trajectory. This study explores the research trends and hot topics in international intellectual property law to better contribute to the balance of interests and the coordination of intellectual property rules among countries. Using CiteSpace 6.4R1 document visualization analysis software to conduct a visual analysis of international intellectual property law literature data from the Web of Science (WOS). The study found that: 1) Keyword clustering analysis: Research hot topics in the field of international intellectual property law are AI, benefit sharing, and intellectual property; 2) Time trend analysis: Research on intellectual property law experienced explosive growth in 2016. Research using AI and COVID-19 vaccines as keywords surged in 2021. In 2025, research using AI and deep learning as keywords continued to show scattered growth; 3) Case analysis: Taking the preliminary ruling of the EU Court’s first AI-related bill as an example, this study explores solutions to the intellectual property system for the black-box problem of automated decision-making algorithms, and hopes to propose a “registration + differentiated disclosure” model to achieve a balance of interests and coordinate the intellectual property laws of various countries.
