Abstract

With movie posters from Blood Diamond as a case study, this thesis probes into the mechanism on how movie posters create multimodal metaphors to convey connotations of culture and value through a combination of image and text, which aims at providing the cognitive motivation for movie posters in constructing semiotic significance.
