Abstract

This paper introduces the structure of the double 2-out-of-2 system and presents its Markov model for performance analysis. Transient reliability and safety of the system are obtained. In addition, the effects of imperfect diagnostic coverage and common cause failures on the reliability and safety of the system are researched. The results demonstrate that increasing the diagnostic coverage and decreasing the factor of common cause failures can improve the performance of the double 2-out-of-2 system.
