Abstract

Climatic comfort is a crucial concern in architecture globally, particularly as energy consumption for maintaining comfort presents significant environmental and sustainability challenges. This issue is especially pronounced in the rapidly expanding hospitality sector, where existing hotels impose a substantial environmental burden, jeopardizing fragile ecosystems. This research investigates passive building design as a sustainable solution, emphasizing the critical role of architectural form and site placement in minimizing energy consumption. The study advocates for integrating renewable energy sources, such as solar panels, green roofs, and kinetic louvers, into hospitality design. Proposed design solutions for luxury hospitality services incorporate these passive strategies. Simulations conducted during this research assess the effectiveness of these solutions, revealing that appropriate building orientation and massing can reduce heat gain by up to 40%, while green roofing can enhance solar panel efficiency by an average of 3.6%. These findings underscore the potential for incorporating sustainable strategies into hospitality design, thereby reducing environmental impacts and improving energy efficiency. This transition towards a more sustainable hospitality industry aligns with global initiatives aimed at mitigating climate change. Ultimately, the research offers a roadmap for environmentally responsible and economically viable hospitality services, providing essential insights and guidelines for policymakers to foster sustainable practices within the industry. By addressing these challenges through innovative design and renewable energy integration, this research contributes to the broader goal of creating a more sustainable future in hospitality architecture.
