Abstract

Indonesia is highly vulnerable to natural disasters, which often result in severe psychological trauma for individuals affected, particularly children and adolescents aged 5–18 years. This study aims to develop a peer mentoring-based psychosocial support model to enhance school preparedness for emergency situations due to natural disasters. The peer mentoring strategy provides psychosocial support through shared experiences and interpersonal understanding among peers, thereby creating an environment conducive to trauma recovery. This research uses a development research design (R&D) with the ADDIE model, which consists of the stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The population and sample of this study comprised 235 junior and senior high school students identified as registered in the 2023/2024 academic year. Data were collected through questionnaires, and data analysis was performed using descriptive statistical analysis. The results of the study indicate that trained peer mentors significantly enhance psychosocial resilience among students, promote trauma recovery, and improve preparedness for future disasters. The practical implications of this model emphasize its potential for integration into the school system to mitigate post-disaster psychological impacts and strengthen emergency preparedness.
