- Abstract
This study evaluates the efficacy of two stochastic models, the Lee-Carter model and Functional Data Time Series Analysis (FDTSA), in modeling male mortality in Nigeria. Data for this analysis were sourced from the Nigeria Bureau of Statistics, covering the period from 1998 to 2024. Through various error measurement assessments, it was determined that FDTSA outperforms the Lee-Carter model in accurately modeling male mortality in Nigeria.
