- Abstract
This study uses the CRAAP Test (Currency, Relevance, Authority, Accuracy, and Purpose) to analyze ChatGPT Web Search and Google Web Search reliability in academic and professional research. In comparison, each search platform showed its strengths and weaknesses. Google Web Search outperforms ChatGPT Web Search in Currency, Authority, and Accuracy, making it the best option for sourcing verifiable, up-to-date, peer-reviewed material from respectable institutions. ChatGPT Web Search, on the other hand, provides structured, logically organized, and neutral responses, making it an efficient tool for speedy learning and concept exploration. However, ChatGPT’s Web Search capacity to synthesize material into coherent, edible formats without manual filtering is valuable for structured overviews rather than comprehensive source examination. The study found that a hybrid solution using ChatGPT Web Search for structured insights and Google Web Search for source validation and further research involvement is best. This integrated technique balances efficiency and academic rigor, helping researchers, students, and professionals improve information retrieval for accessibility and legitimacy.
