- As a traditional industry, the general merchandise industry has formed a complete industry chain and management model. With the rising of the Internet and e-commerce, people's lifestyles and consumption behaviors are gradually changing. Although department stores have undergone some changes in market transformation again and again, traditional department stores are facing heavy competitive pressure and may even go under. The paper analyses the present situation of the domestic department stores, summarizes some countermeasures and suggestions based on the case of a department store, which are expected to play a role in upgrading and transforming the general merchandise industry.
