Abstract

By exploring and comprehending Bi Gua in the Book of Changes from an esthetical angle, the aesthetic connotation of White Bi is derived as an ultimate of decoration that reverts to simplicity, and as an advocate of returning to original appearance and nature. It implies many of the essential ancient Chinese thoughts, such as thrift, the relations between decoration and simplicity, the relations between objects and their orderliness, and harmony between human race and nature. Therefore, White Bi possesses important reference value in environment protection and sustainable development.
