Proceedings of the 1st International Conference One Belt, One Road, One Tourism (ICOBOROT 2018)

The “One Belt and One Road” was proposed by China in 2013 has its origin dating back to the days of expedition and travel by Marco polo. Today it is a manifestation of China’s neighborhood diplomacy fostering friendship, economic and tourism development. It also provides new concepts, new models, and new space for the growth of 65 countries along the Belt and Road. Tourism is an important pillar in the economy among many of these countries. As peace, political stability, and tourism go hand in hand, the international conference “ One Belt One Road One Tourism” will promote not only tourism but reinforce peace and economic development in these countries.

This conference will provide an interactive platform for academics and industry professionals in the tourism field to share their latest research, analyze industry trends and build connections in relation to the “Belt and Road” initiative for which tourism is expected to play a significant role. Held in Palembang, Indonesia, on 22-24 November 2018, the conference is initiated and organized by the School of Hotel and Tourism Management of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, King Abdul Aziz University, Faculty of Tourism and Bandung Institute of Tourism, Indonesia, hosted by Palembang Polytechnic of Tourism and co-hosted by Bali Institute of Tourism, Lombok Polytechnic of Tourism, Medan Polytechnic of Tourism and Makasar Polytechnic of Tourism.
