Abstract

This study explores the antioxidant potential of Leea aequata L. leaves through in vitro evaluation to identify and characterize bioactive compounds responsible for its antioxidant activity. The leaves were extracted, fractionated, and purified, and the antioxidant capacity was assessed using the DPPH assay. The ethyl acetate fraction exhibited the strongest activity with an IC 50 value of 11.309 ppm. Further purification using preparative thin-layer chromatography (TLC) isolated a flavonoid compound that demonstrated notable antioxidant potential with an IC 50 value of 26.646 ppm. These findings confirm the role of flavonoids as major contributors to the antioxidant properties of Leea aequata L. and support its potential as a natural source of therapeutic antioxidants. This research provides scientific validation for the traditional use of Leea aequata and contributes to the broader understanding of plant-based antioxidants as sustainable health agents.
