We are pleased to publish the proceedings of the 9th International Conference on Strategic and Global Studies (ICSGS 2025), held at Kyushu International University in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka, Japan, on July 19–20, 2025, under the theme “Development Transition and Social Change in Japan and Asia: Building Sustainability, Innovation, and Global Partnerships for a Thriving Future.” This is an annual event organized by the School of Strategic and Global Studies, Universitas Indonesia, with its global partner university. This year’s program, Kyushu International University, was chosen as a strategic partner to host the ICSGS event.

ICSGS 2025 featured 101 papers and brought together scholars from ten countries, including Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan, China, Taiwan, Turkey, South Korea, the United States, the Netherlands, and the Philippines, to present and discuss their work across a wide range of disciplines.

The proceedings are organized into eight themes related to Strategic and Global Studies: (1) Evaluating SDGs Progress and Resilience Metrics; (2) Sustainable Industrial Development and Environmental Preservation; (3) Sustainable and Inclusive Development Practices and Policies; (4) The Role of Technology and Innovation in the Built Environment; (5) Urban Diplomacy and International Partnerships; (6) Halal Standards and Certification Systems in the Global Era; (7) Labor, Mobility, and Community Development; and (8) Indonesia and Japan Relationship.

We sincerely thank our conference partners at Kyushu International University, including Prof. Satomi Ohgata, Prof. Shinri Murakami (Dean of the Faculty of Contemporary Business), and Prof. Nicholas Kemp (Director of the International Office). We also gratefully acknowledge Prof. Dr. Ir. We firmly believe that these proceedings will serve as a valuable resource, significantly contributing to future scientific progress.
