Abstract

Singer Sewing Machine Company (hereinafter, Singer) is regarded as the originator of franchising. Thus, this paper explores the evolution of Singer’s sales mode to prove that franchising is in fact a large-scale distribution mode of service product. The prosperous development of franchising serves as evidences of global economy’s inevitable transition from industrial economy to service economy.
