Abstract

As a new type of tourism business, homestays are crucial to the regional tourism economy. Taking Tianshui City in the northwest region, which is rich in tourism resources, as the research object, this study uses GIS spatial analysis and other methods to explore the spatial distribution characteristics and influencing factors of homestays. The research findings are as follows: Homestays in Tianshui City exhibit significant clustering characteristics, with a spatial distribution pattern of ‘global dispersion and local concentration’ and a ‘northern density and southern sparseness’ feature; The distribution of homestays in Tianshui City is completely positively correlated with road transportation, tourist attractions, and river systems, moderately positively correlated with population density and land use, and negatively correlated with elevation. Specifically, this manifests as dependence on tourist attractions and land use, reliance on transportation arteries, proximity to river systems, and a tendency toward population centres and valleys; The most influential factor on the distribution of homestays is tourist attractions, while the least influential is road transportation. No single factor can fully explain the influence on homestay distribution; the spatial distribution of homestays is the result of multiple factors interacting. Road factors and tourist attraction factors are common indicators influencing the spatial distribution of homestays.
