The International Scientific Conference of MICE (ISCOMICE) 2024 marks the second annual conference held by the Meeting, Incentive, Convention, and Exhibition (MICE) Study Program under the Department of Business Administration, Politeknik Negeri Jakarta. This event continues the commitment to build an academic platform where ideas, innovations, and research findings are exchanged to support the advancement of the MICE industry and its integral role in shaping quality tourism.

With the theme “Accelerate the Growth of Quality Tourism Through the MICE Industry”, ISCOMICE 2024 brought together stakeholders from academia, government institutions, and the industry to share insights, propose strategies, and foster collaboration. As the world moves forward from a period of recovery, the conference addressed current challenges and opportunities within the MICE sector, emphasizing the need for adaptive strategies, sustainable practices, and cross-sectoral cooperation to elevate tourism standards.

Held on July 23rd, 2024, at Gibraltar Room Menara 165, Jakarta, and through virtual platforms, the conference featured a distinguished lineup of plenary speakers. These included Agustini Rahayu, ST., M.Si., Director of Strategic Planning at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy; Dr. Fransiskus Xaverius Teguh, MA, Director of the Labuan Bajo Flores Authority; Dr. Noel Scott, Associate Professor at the University of the Sunshine Coast, Australia; Dr. Kandappan Balasubramanian, Associate Professor at Taylor’s University, Malaysia; and Imam Syafganti, S.Sos, M.Si., Ph.D., a senior lecturer and researcher from Politeknik Negeri Jakarta. Together, they provided diverse perspectives from policy, industry, and academic viewpoints that enriched the discourse on how MICE can serve as a catalyst for tourism transformation.

This year’s conference attracted 154 participants from both offline and online platforms. In addition to the plenary sessions, ISCOMICE 2024 held five parallel breakout sessions featuring research presentations that had been peer-reviewed by credible scholars and professionals. The diverse topics presented explored current trends, innovations, and case studies within the fields of event management, tourism and hospitality, destination development, digital event marketing, and sustainable MICE practices. From these sessions, several papers are also in consideration for publication in nationally accredited journals and international indexing platforms.

The success of ISCOMICE 2024 is owed to the dedication and collaboration of many parties. We express our deepest gratitude to the keynote speakers, panelists, presenters, reviewers, moderators, and all participants who contributed to the vibrant exchange of ideas throughout the conference.

It is our hope that the work presented in this publication will continue to inspire further research, critical discussions, and concrete actions toward a more innovative, inclusive, and sustainable future for the MICE industry.
