Abstract

Environmental pollution is a problem that is being faced by many countries, especially in big cities. Therefore, Environmental Impact Analysis (AMDAL) plays a very important role in efforts to overcome environmental pollution and anticipate the impact of climate change on the environment. This step can be implemented by carrying out environmental monitoring, so that based on the information collected, policies / actions can be determined that must be implemented to avoid and minimize impact on the environment. The Internet of Things (IoT) is a collective network of interconnected devices and technologies that facilitate communication between hardware and cloud servers. The Palembang Lake River and Ferry Transport Polytechnic is an official school under the Ministry of Transportation which requires cadets to live and sleep in dormitories. Campus environmental conditions greatly influence students’ learning motivation. This research focuses on reviewing the effectiveness of IoT in detecting environmental conditions at the River Lake and Crossing Transport Polytechnic, where the parameters used include UV light levels, rain intensity, humidity, temperature and soil moisture. Based on the measurement results, it was found that the level of curation was good and the use of IoT was worthy of consideration.
