Chinese Language Teaching in Saudi: Status Analysis, Problems and Countermeasures

Since the “Belt and Road” initiative was put forward, international Chinese education has continued to advance. In 2019, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed announced the inclusion of Chinese in the Saudi national education system, which marked a new stage in Saudi Chinese education. Based on the background of the international promotion of Chinese under the “One Belt and One Road” initiative, this article investigates the current situation of Chinese education in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, summarizes the development history and current situation of Chinese education in Saudi Arabia, finds out the problems in Saudi Chinese education, and combines with successful experience of language promotion in other countries, in order to explores methods to solve the problems, and proposes optimization paths.
