Proceedings of the 2015 International Conference on Modeling, Simulation and Applied Mathematics

The 2015 International Conference on Modelling, Simulation and Applied Mathematics-MSAM 2015, held on August 23 and 24, 2015 in Phuket Island, Thailand, with the participation of excellent researchers in related fields, has proven to be a great success to the advance of modelling and simulation studies.

With high-performance computers and other high-end tools, scientists nowadays can much more easily create an environment with desired factors in which their theories/hypotheses can be tested. This modelling and simulation with computers, comparing to traditional experiment methods, is safer and much more efficient, especially when the theories are concerned with dynamic factors. So, the science of modelling and simulation is like a supervisor to the science of other subjects.

At MSAM 2015, we have tried our best to help develop and accelerate the studies in this field. To achieve our goal, we have invited world-renowned scientists and researchers to contribute and give speeches. Newly proposed methods with research value are also invited to be presented at MSAM 2015 by their proposers either orally or through posters. It is to me, and I believe also to other participants, the best experience since a long time.

It is a great honor to us that MSAM 2015 has received support from people in various countries and regions. During the preparation, we have contributors from Canada, US, Brazil, Mexico, India, Japan, Korea, China, Russia, Czech, Germany and many other places. Their contributions have gone through a strict reviewing process performed by our pre-selected international reviewers. All the submissions were double-blind reviewed, both the reviewers and the authors remain anonymous. First, all submissions were divided into several chapters according to the topics, and removed the information of the authors, including name, affiliation, and email etc. Then the TPC chairs assigned the submissions to reviewers according to their research interests. Each submission was reviewed by two reviewers. The review results should be sent to chairs on time. If two reviewers had conflicting opinions, the paper would be transmitted to the third reviewer assigned by the chairs. Only papers which were approved by all reviewers were accepted for publication.

With the effort from the reviewers, 92 out of 266 submissions were eventually accepted for publication. By the editors’ work, these papers are put under 4 chapters:

Chapter 1: Complex Systems Modelling and Simulation
Chapter 2: Formal Methods
Chapter 3: Simulation Tools and Platforms
Chapter 4: Applied Mathematics and Statistics Analysis

Finally, it is important to thank those who have made MSAM 2015 a great success. I would like to give my thankfulness to the organizers, the contributors, the reviewers and the Atlantis Press for their generous support. I wish that their support could continue when the next MSAM begins.
