The Impact of Producer Services Development on the Servitization of Manufacturing Industry

Abstract

Producer services are important intermediate inputs in manufacturing industry, so does the development of producer services promote the servitization of manufacturing industry? To answer this question, this paper uses provincial paneldata from 2004 to 2020 to empirically analyze the impact of producer services development on manufacturing servitization. The empirical results show that producer services promote the servitization of manufacturing industry at the significance level of 1%, and the development of producer services promotes the level of servitization by improving human capital and promoting technological innovation. Besides, the eastern region and technology-intensive manufacturing industry have more obvious effects. This study enriches the content of manufacturing field and provides empirical evidence for realizing high-quality development of manufacturingindustry.
