The 2022 International Conference on Mathematical Statistics and Economic Analysis (MSEA 2022) was successfully held in Dalian, China on May 27-29, 2022. It was held both online and offline. MSEA 2022 combined mathematical statistics and economic analysis for the first time to explore the relationship between them, providing a platform for experts and scholars in related fields to exchange information and research.

We were delighted and honored to have Prof. Yan Wang from Xi’an Peihua University, China to serve as our Conference General Chair. And there were 260 scholars attending the conference. The conference agenda covered keynote speeches, oral presentations, and online Q&A discussion. Firstly, keynote speakers were each allocated 30-45 minutes to hold their speeches. Then in the oral presentations, the excellent papers we had selected were presented by their authors by turns.

Four sophisticated keynote speakers were invited to deliver their speeches in this conference. Among them, Prof. Franco Gandolfi from Georgetown University, USA first delivered a speech on COVID-A Pandemic Causing Unprecedented Disruption and the Path towards a New Normal. He said that the pandemic has caused an unprecedented health crisis and quoted that not so many countries since World War II had seen educational institutions going into lockdown mode at around the same time and for the same reason, raising a question: what would the path towards a new normal look like? Moreover, Assoc. Prof. Bo Xu from Northeastern University, China delivered a speech on the title Extracting Similar Electronic Medical Records: A Novel Federated Learning-Based Case-Based Reasoning Framework. He and his team proposed a novel federated learning (FL)-based case-based reasoning (CBR) framework for extracting similar electronic medical records (EMRs), named FL-CBR, developed a distributed sorting algorithm to retrieve similar cases from multiple hospitals, and conducted an experimental study using the Medical Information Mark for Intensive Care dataset (MIMIC-III). Last but not least, Assoc. Prof. Regina Fangying Lin from Shenzhen Technology University, China made a report on the New Direction for Urban development: from Urbanization towards Happy City, in which she presented that women are happier than men; and age, education, income, job flexibility, and type of housing all have an impact on happiness. Their brilliant speeches had triggered heated discussion in the conference. And every participant praised the conference for disseminating useful and insightful knowledge.

The proceedings of MSEA 2022 cover a bunch of topics, including Financial Mathematics, Data Analysis and Mining, the Economic Statistics, Econometrics, etc. All the papers have been checked through rigorous review and processes to meet the requirements of publication.

On behalf of the conference organizing committee, we would like to extend our sincere appreciation to all of those who supported MSEA 2022. Particularly, our special thanks go to the Advances in Computer Science Research, for all the hard work of its colleagues in publishing this paper volume. We firmly believe that all the attendees have had fruitful discussions and gained valuable knowledge, and will enjoy the opportunity for future collaborations.
