Abstract

Motivation serves as a force capable of driving and nurturing the enthusiasm to achieve life goals and aspirations. This study aims to analyze the perceptions of micro, small, and medium enterprise operators regarding intrinsic work motivation using six indicators of approach. The research conducted is a quantitative descriptive study with the population being micro, small, and medium enterprise operators in the city of Padang. The sample selection was done randomly with the sample size determined using the Slovin formula. The study utilized primary data through the distribution of questionnaires and interviews to the respondents. The results indicate that intrinsic work motivation, with indicators such as concern for the job, the perception of whether the job is enjoyable and challenging, the opportunity for learning something different and new in the work, whether money is a reason for doing the job, whether the current business is still interesting or not, the response if wealthy whether one would still take the current job or not, plays a significant role and receives considerable attention among micro, small, and medium enterprise operators.
