Risk Prevention and Preliminary Countermeasures for Earthquake Disasters in the Global South

Abstract

This paper introduces the seismic hazard and risk analysis of countries in the global South, and takes Indonesia and Myanmar as examples to conduct research on earthquake disaster risk analysis and risk prevention measures in Indonesia and Myanmar. The research results indicate that the regions with higher seismic risk in the global South are mainly concentrated in the Middle East, Southeast Asia, East Africa, and the west coast of Latin America. The regions with higher risk of earthquake disasters in the global South are mainly concentrated in the Middle East, Southeast Asia, East Africa, and the west coast of Latin America. The areas with high earthquake risk in Indonesia are mainly concentrated in the island arc and eastern archipelago along the Sumatra Timor line, while the areas with high earthquake disaster risk are mainly concentrated in Sumatra and Java islands. The areas with high seismic hazard in Myanmar are mainly concentrated in the central and western regions, while the areas with high seismic risk are mainly concentrated in the central and southern regions. To reduce the risk of earthquake disasters, it is necessary to strengthen the construction of geophysical infrastructure in countries and regions in the global South.
