Abstract

Indonesia is a multicultural country. It has various cultural treasures that display a rich ancestral heritage, in addition to a heterogeneous population. Indonesia is a country that is superior when it comes to the wealth of its local wisdom. Two problems arise, namely how respond to cultural locality in the globalized situation and how to determine its perspective. These problems are the focus of this paper. By discussing the issue of localism, identity, decentralization, and cultural approach, this paper aims to give an idea of the kind of attitudes that should be taken by Indonesia and the perspective involved. By taking the case in Indonesia, the four cultural issues that are often discussed could be explored further.
