The 2025 8th International Conference on Civil Architecture, Hydropower and Engineering Management (CAHEM 2025) was successfully held from November 28 to 30, 2025, in Zhengzhou, China. As the eighth edition of this conference series, CAHEM 2025 continued to serve as an international academic forum for scholars, engineers, and practitioners to exchange recent research achievements, practical experiences, and emerging ideas in the broad fields of civil engineering, architecture, hydropower engineering, and engineering management.

The conference featured three keynote speeches delivered by distinguished scholars whose research reflects both theoretical depth and practical relevance. Assoc. Prof. Bin Hu from Beijing University of Technology presented a keynote entitled "Study on Composite Utilization of Underground Space of Public Green Space in Beijing Old Town", addressing innovative strategies for sustainable urban development through the integrated use of underground space in historic urban areas. Assoc. Prof. Dong Zhou from Zhengzhou University of Technology delivered the keynote "Research on Solid Waste Resource Utilization and Application of High-Performance Concrete", highlighting advances in solid waste recycling technologies and their applications in high-performance construction materials. The third keynote, "Study on the Activation of Salt Gypsum and the Performance of Its Cementitious Materials", was presented by Assoc. Prof. Zhixin Li, also from Zhengzhou University of Technology, offering valuable insights into industrial by-product utilization and the performance optimization of cementitious materials. In addition to the keynote sessions, the conference included oral presentation sessions, which provided authors with opportunities to present their latest research findings and engage in constructive academic discussions. Together, these sessions enriched the academic content of the conference and promoted interdisciplinary dialogue across multiple research domains.

CAHEM 2025 covered a wide spectrum of research topics related to water conservancy and hydropower engineering, civil engineering, architecture and building materials, as well as engineering management. The discussions encompassed fundamental and applied studies in hydraulics, hydrology, water resources planning and utilization, flood and drought management, hydraulic structures, and hydropower development, alongside advances in computational mechanics, structural engineering, geotechnical and seismic engineering, transportation infrastructure, and disaster prevention. The conference also addressed emerging issues in building science, green and energy-saving building technologies, traditional and novel building materials, and ecological architecture. Furthermore, significant attention was devoted to engineering management topics, including urban and environmental management, logistics and supply chain systems, production and process management, public safety, disaster modeling, and city governance. These diverse yet interconnected themes reflect the evolving challenges faced by modern infrastructure systems and the necessity of integrated, multidisciplinary approaches.

The conference attracted more than 150 participants from universities, research institutes, and industry, exceeding the total number of submitted manuscripts. A total of 90 papers were submitted to CAHEM 2025, and after a rigorous peer-review process conducted by the conference reviewers and technical committee members, 34 high-quality papers were accepted for publication. All accepted papers were selected based on their originality, technical quality, and relevance to the conference themes.

The organizing committee would like to express sincere appreciation to the keynote speakers, authors, reviewers, and organizing committee members for their valuable contributions and dedicated efforts. It is our hope that the proceedings of CAHEM 2025 will serve as a useful reference for researchers and practitioners and will stimulate further research and collaboration in the fields of civil architecture, hydropower engineering, and engineering management.
