Abstract

Taxus suspension cell cultures are a sustainable source of paclitaxel. In this study, transcript profiles of T.chinensis cells were analysed systematically by RT-qPCR to investigate the transcriptional dynamics of Taxus cell during cultures. Correlation between the expression levels of genes involved in paclitaxel biosynthesis enzymes and the specific synthesis rate of paclitaxel in suspension culture of Taxuschinensishad been studied by a statistic model. The model suggested that, taxadiene 5-alpha-hydroxylase, with the highest correlation coefficient, was the rate-limiting enzyme in paclitaxel biosynthetic pathway in Taxuschinensis.
