- Abstract
A finite element display dynamic model was developed to study mechanical properties of single layer coatings under single solid particle impact, simulating particulate erosion conditions. Four coatings on the same material substrate material were analyzed to determine reduction in additional factors influence. The model was used to study the effect of mechanical characteristics such as microhardness, elastic modulus and combination of microhardness and elastic modulus. The result shows that erosion rate of the coatings decreased with an increase of the ratio H3/E2 and H/E.
