Abstract
Since 2002, the number institutions for Early Childhood Education (ECE) institutions in Indonesia has grown rapidly in quantity. However, the increase in does not guarantee the quality improvement of ECE institutions. There are various types of ECE institutions in Indonesia, such as kindergarten, day care, community preschool, religious schools and so on. Moreover, Indonesia is a vast country with several islands, races, and cultures. That makes the quality of each ECE institution different, for example school building and operating hours In order to evaluate and to improve the quality of various ECE institutions, Indonesian government had launched an organization affiliated with the government namely the National Association of Accreditation for ECE and non-formal education in 2006. However, some institutions stated that they do not know how to prepare for accreditation due to lack of information about it. Thus, this paper believes that training and guidance for institutions should be conducted before they are accredited so that the institution can prepare and improve the quality of aspects assessed.
