The 2023 3rd International Conference on Education, Information Management and Service Science (EIMSS 2023) was held via hybrid form in Qingdao, China, from July 21 to 23, 2023. Previous conferences in the past two years of this series were held in Xi’an and Changsha, and it was agreed to hold the conference once a year, with the aim to establish and develop a constant international collaboration.

Amidst the advancement of modern science and technology, especially the development of information technology, our society has entered a stage of highly developed information technology. The importance of information technology education in educational management simply cannot be overstated. We should do our utmost to utilize the achievements yielded by scientific and technological innovation, vigorously promote the informatization of education management, and provide quality services for education and teaching.

Considering the trend, the third conference was organized to provide a forum for developing research cooperation and to promote activities in the fields of education, information management and service science. We entertained about 150 participants at the third conference and arranged various speeches and presentations that covered a wide range of topics related to the conference theme. Many researchers all over the world have contributed to the emerging technology of education, information management and service science. Assoc. Prof. Goi Chai Lee from Curtin University Malaysia, Malaysia, addressed a keynote speech on the Use of Extended Reality (XR) in Education: To Implement or Not to Implement. In the speech, he discussed with the participants the pros and cons of XR in education and identified factors that need to be considered before implementing it, which include the purpose and goals of integrating XR, availability of resources and infrastructure, teacher training and support, ethical and privacy considerations, and potential impact on learners and society. Educators and policymakers need to carefully weigh the potential benefits and risks of XR in education to make informed decisions about its implementation.

EIMSS 2023 has been endorsed by many national and international organizations and publishers working on education, information management and service science. The topics of papers collected and undergone peer review in the Proceedings of EIMSS 2023 are classified as follows: Intelligent Learning Environment, Educational Multimedia, Knowledge Acquisition and Management, Service Industry Practices, etc. Last but not the least is our gratitude. We would like to express our sincere thanks to all the plenary and invited speakers, the members of the Program Committee and International Technical Program Committee for the success of the conference, which has given rise to this present volume of selected papers. We would also like to thank the staff of Atlantis Press for their effective work to make this volume published.
