Abstract

The demands for the scalable and efficient network at data centers are becoming more and more intense recently. However, there are three problems needed to be solved, i.e., the ever-increasing number of actual or virtual machines demands, effectively managing these different machines and maintaining the effectiveness. This paper proposes a new software defined network (SDN) based on VLANs and its significant characteristic is to build a scalable layer 2/3 network for data centers based on the physical OpenFlow switches. Our framework has high performances because: 1) The operation of encapsulating and unpacking packets is not necessary; 2) Routing paths can be pre-computed.
